He admitted it was a tough decision to drop Danny Coyne for the trip to Coventry.
Southgate: “It wasn’t an easy decision. Danny in particular has been very good for us but Brad we had in our mind at the beginning of the season as our number one.
“He (Jones) relieved a lot of pressure on our defence by coming and claiming a lot of balls played into our box and he made some good saves.
“In the end when we look back on it there were some crucial saves he made that may in fact show a draw was a fairer result than we’re feeling now.
“We’ll have to watch it back again.”
