Coops on target as Reserves beat the Black Cats

Colin Cooper apart, Boro fielded a youthful side that only had a handful players with first team experience.

Boro took the lead late in the first half through Lee Cattermole and doubled their lead when Danny Graham finished well from a Jason Kennedy pass, with just over an hour gone.

Save the best for last, Super Cooper got forward and met a Tom Craddock cross to score a rare goal and seal a deserved 3-0 win. At 39-years-of-age it's not too late, he could lead the line against Arsenal on Saturday.

Eds Note - wish I'd gone to Durham instead of watching England capitulate against 14-1 outsiders Northern Ireland. Well done boys, the laughing stock of Europe.

Boro team:
Jones, Liddle, Grounds, Cattermole, Hinds, Cooper, Clough (Robson), Kennedy (Burgess), Graham, Craddock, Owens (Walker)
