Christie returned to action last week when scoring the only goal for Boro Reserves against Sunderland.
Millers boss Ronnie Moore will try and persuad Boro that Millmoor is the ideal place for Christie to regain his fitness and form.
"I can't see Malcolm getting straight back into the Middlesbrough team so he might as well get fit playing at our level," said Moore.
Personally I can't see Boro agreeing to a season long deal, maybe a month or two at most. With the departure of Massimo Maccarone it only leaves Joseph Desire Job and Szilard Nemeth as cover for Mark Viduka and JFH.
