Changes for the cup game

Gianluca Festa starts a three match ban for his sending off against Sunderland last month, while Jonathan Greening serves a one match ban after amassing five bookings this season.

New loan signing Benito Carbone is cup-tied after playing for Derby in their third round defeat by Bristol Rovers.

Gareth Southgate, Mark Crossley returned from International duty unscathed, both were second half substitutes in their games against Holland and Argentina.

Alen Boksic missed Croatia's game against Bulgaria because of flu and it a doubt for saturday. Paul Ince is also struggling with a back injury. Decisions will be made on both as late as possible on Saturday.

Mark Wilson could be added to the squad after coming through a midweek reserve game and Robbie Stockdale could be included after returning to training.

Steve McClaren will have a dilema over who to play in goal, Mark Schwarzer has returned to full fitness after two reserve games and has looked sharp in training.

Mark Crossley, and a lot of Boro fans, will be disappointed if he loses out after such a good run, perhaps Schwarzer will just warm the subs bench.

I would personally like to see Boro play 4-4-2 from the start, playing Southgate and Ugo Ehiogu central, with Franck Queudrue and Robbie Stockdale at full back. In midfield I would play Paul Ince and Robbie Mustoe down the middle with Wilson and Noel Whelan wide. Up front I would put Boksic and Dean Windass.

We'll just have to wait and see what Steve McClaren decides.
