Former Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has revealed he once tried to sign Didier Drogba and Patrice Evra for the Fratton Park outfit.
Chelsea ace Drogba was apparently valued at just £3million at the time but Redknapp could not afford him and the Blues went on to pay over £20million for the Ivory Coast star.
France full-back Evra, now with Manchester United, was also a target during his time at Nice but again Redknapp could not do the deal.
Harry Redknapp: "I was after him [Drogba] about six years ago, when I was at Portsmouth.
"He played at Lyon, scored twice and I thought then he was top-drawer.
"But he was also £3million and that was too expensive.
"Around that time I was also looking at Patrice Evra but he went to Monaco."
