A first team XI played Rangers at Ibrox and lost out to a Thomas Buffel strike on the stroke of half-time.

It should be noted that Rangers are a couple of weeks ahead of Boro in their pre-season build-up, in deed they play their first SPL game next Saturday.

Both side fielded a number of substitutes in the second half to give as many players as possible a run-out.

Boro XI:
Turnbull, Parnaby, Pogatetz, Taylor (Bates), Morrison, Cattermole (Walker), Boateng, Rochemback, Johnson (Craddock), Yakubu (Maccarone)

A Reserve XI were much closer to home, at the 96.6 TFM Darlington Arena, where they lost to a goal from Gaetano Giallanza.

Boro XI:
Knight,McMahon, Grounds, Ehiogu, Wheater, Davies, Kennedy, Ghoullon, Christie, Graham, Liddle

Both games were a useful run-outs none-the-less, at this stage it's more about the fitness than the result.
