Middlesbrough's new first team coach Mark Proctor has admitted that changes to the side's style of play will take time to implement. The former under-18s coach, who made 246 appearances for Boro as a player, was promoted when Tony Mowbray arrived as manager in October.

"The philosophy of Tony and Mark [Venus] will take a while to evolve," Proctor told BBC Tees.

"So at the moment if we can get results whilst things are evolving then great."

Proctor, who also had spells with Nottingham Forest and Tranmere Rovers during his playing career, added: "We managed to get back-to-back wins which was pleasing, especially the away one which we hadn't had for six or seven months.

"Hopefully we can become an attractive team to watch as well as winning football games."

The 39-year-old spent two spells as a player at Middlesbrough before joining the coaching staff at the Riverside in 1998, and added that he was enjoying the responsibilities of his new position.

"To become the first team coach of your home town club is a fantastic opportunity and hopefully a great experience for me," Proctor continued.

"Tony predominantly coaches the team during the back end of the week, and focuses on shape and tactics.

"We'll do training Monday to Wednesday and then on Thursday to Friday Tony will take over the reins."
