Boro pair miss Irish trip

Middlesbrough misfits Mido and Didier Digard remained on Teesside as their team-mates headed off to Ireland. Mido, the £6million Egyptian striker, and French midfielder Digard, who cost Boro £4million, were not included in the travelling party following their returns from respective loan spells last season. Manager Gordon Strachan told the club's official website: "Didier reported back with a thigh injury so he has been having treatment and hasn't trained while Mido isn't fit, so he's stayed behind to work on that." Mido spent the second half of last season at West Ham, while Digard joined Nice on a temporary deal in January. Summer signing Andy Halliday and young striker Jonathan Franks also stayed behind for treatment on groin and hamstring injuries respectively. Strachan's men face Athlone Town on Monday night and Bray Wanderers on Wednesday evening.
