Middlesbrough midfielder Nicky Bailey has called on his team-mates to show togetherness and pull the club clear of danger in the Championship.Boro conceded an injury-time equaliser to Nottingham Forest in midweek, the fifth occasion the Teessiders have done so this season.

"We need everybody to stick together," Bailey told BBC Look North.

"It's disappointing to keep conceding late goals but together as a team we have to try to put things right."

Prior to his arrival at the Riverside, Bailey was a regular scorer with former club Charlton, notching 13 goals as the Addicks reached the League One play-offs before losing to Swindon in the semi-finals.

However the Hammersmith-born player is yet to open his account for Tony Mowbray's side in 32 appearances this season.

"Earlier in the season I probably played in a more attacking role where I should have scored a few goals, but I didn't and I'm disappointed with that," Bailey added.

"But now I'm playing in a different role, a more defensive role, and I'm happy to do that rather than think about myself and go out to score all the goals.

"As long as I do the job that I've been asked to do then I'll be happy."

Bailey joined Middlesbrough from Charlton Athletic for ?1.4m in July 2010.
