Boro Have Been There Before - But We Had A Back Up!

The difference then - to now - is that victory over Everton at Goodison (that started the record run of defeats) would have taken Boro up to second in the Premiership.

We had that good start to fall back on, even though we only took three points from 39 during that winter ... and that is worse than our current run which is five points from 39.

THAT HORROR RUN BACK IN 1995-96:

EVERTON 4, BORO 0 (Dec 26)
Position: 5th.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST 1, BORO 0 (Dec 30)
League position: 7th.

BORO 0, ASTON VILLA 2 (Jan 1)
League position: 8th.

BORO 2, ARSENAL 3 (Jan 13)
League position: 11th.

SOUTHAMPTON 2, BORO 1 (Jan 20)
League position: 12th

CHELSEA 5, BORO 0 (Feb 4)
League position: 12th.

BORO 1, NEWCASTLE 2 (Feb 10)
League position: 12th.

BORO 1, BOLTON 4 (Feb 17)
League position: 13th.

COVENTRY 0, BORO 0 (Feb 24)
League position: 13th.

BORO 0, EVERTON 2 (March 2)
League position: 13th.

WEST HAM 2, BORO 0 (March 9)
League position: 13th.

BORO 1, NOTTINGHAM FOREST 1 (March 16)
League position: 13th.

ASTON VILLA 0, BORO 0 March 19)
League position: 13th

THE BREAKTHROUGH ....

LEEDS UNITED 0, BORO 1 (March 30)
Nick Barmby was fouled by Lucas Radebe in the box on four minutes and Graham Kavanagh scored from the penalty spot. Leeds should have levelled when they won a penalty on 49 minutes but Gary McAllister blazed over the bar.
