Southgate can do without clubs unsettling his players, and we still don't know what is going at the club.
The players AWOL have been fined, and it won't take much to upset the Egypian, who has made it known he wants to leave the Riverside sooner rather than later.
It puts Southgate on the spot, but regardless how upset the striker seems to be, he won't let Mido leave on the cheap.
Southgate: "Mido is our player and, as long as he is, he has to come in for training. We have had no bids for any of our players.
"We expect players under contract here to come in and get fit for the start of the new season."
Bruce wants Mido ... make no mistake about it ... but this looks that it has some mileage left to run.
