Barrow Have Thought Of Cup Glory!

However, the Barrow AFC manager is sick of his players basking in dreams of the FA Cup, when they should concentrate on the "bread and butter" of league football ... or suffer because of it.

He was furious at Saturday's "unacceptable" performance in the 2-1 defeat at Grays Athletic.

Darren Sheridan has warned his players.: "None of you are guaranteed a place for the game against Middlesbrough.

"Well I'll tell you something now, they'll all be scared for their places.

"They're not guaranteed a place, any of them.

"I'm going to stake my place in this team to play at Middlesbrough.

"I didn't see one tackle in midfield on Saturday, not one crunching tackle.

"The FA Cup is great, but, I don't care what anyone says, it is a distraction, albeit a good distraction to have.

"We should be following Kettering's example. They're playing in the FA Cup and still winning in the league because I think their attitude is a little more professional than ours at the moment.

"The confidence they've gained in the cup they're taking into the league, whereas we seem to be doing the opposite, focusing on the cup and not getting switched onto the league. But we know our priorities. We're not going to win the FA Cup, that's a fact, our priority is to stay in this league and I'm sure we will.

"The lads we are going to bring into the club in January will give everyone a big boost. They will be quality players and it will give everyone an extra lift."
