Alves Ruled Out!
Alves was hurt when he was tackled from behind by Nicky Butt, a challenge which earned the Magpies midfielder a booking.
Alves tried to play on but collapsed to the ground in pain within a few minutes and was stretchered off.
The injury was confirmed following a scan today.
