History of the Middlesbrough v Tottenham Hotspur fixture

A hard opening game for both teams with neither side having the best record when it comes to opening day fixtures.

Jonathan Woodgate returns to his former club and, apart from Alan Hutton who is injured, the Londoners have a full squad to choose from.

Boro are only missing Chris Riggott and Julio Arca and many fans will be keeping a keen eye on who Southgate picks in goal. The decision will be between Ross Turnbull and Brad Jones and there is also another decision to make at right-back with Justin Hoyte looking less likely to be signed in time. Rhys Williams and Tony McMahonw ill be fighting it out for the starting spot.
