We had dropped him off somewhere between Poole Hospital and Stokesley without a stitch on. Somehow he managed to flag a taxi down after lurking in some bushes somewhere in Nunthorpe, did you see that man?
Anyway I got about four hours kip before I had to pick the lads up and get us to Darlo' station for 9am on the Sunday.
It's suprising what a four pack of Strongbow can do for a hangover 'cos by the time we got to a boozer in Earls Court for opening we were ready for a session.
Three and a half hours and several Guinness' later we emerged to make our way to Stamford Bridge. Not a taxi in sight, apart from one, which we quickly dived in, only to be told it was not for hire. But we were in it and demanded that we were taken to Stamford Bridge. The driver was not happy and jumped out to flag down a passing Police car. Reluctantly and after a few choice words we set off on foot to the Bridge, the only problem was we did'nt have a clue where it was.
After a slight detour via Brompton Cemetry we managed to get there 20 minutes after kick-off. We were 3-0 down by half-time. Two more quick goals in the second half meant we could leave 20 minutes early to catch an early train home, and go to the sauce shop.
Unfortunately our tickets did not allow us to get an earlier train so the guard threw us off at Peterborough. What a lovely place, still had the lights up from Christmas. Found this boozer full of woman rugby players who were not in the slightest amused when our lad showed them his 'tackle'.
Caught the right train an hour later. It wasn't 'till we got to York that I realised that I had to drive home from Darlo, so I stopped drinking to sober up.
We must have got home alright 'cos I'm here to tell the tale today!
Reggie.
