Former Boro Star Wants Downing At White Hart Lane!

Woodgate has insisted it is imperative Tottenham add to their ranks in the January transfer window, and Stewart Downing is top of their wanted list.

Harry Redknapp has dragged Tottenham out of the drop zone, but with Boro on a nose-dive to hell, there is no love lost between the two clubs as they remain firmly in the relegation picture.

Woodgate (talking to the the Evening Standard): "We are in a relegation battle and we have to keep improving. Every team have to buy players.

"If you look at this time last season, Spurs signed players and we must keep on buying.

"We need as many top-quality players as we can get.

"Stewart Downing is a Middlesbrough player, so I can't say much about his future. But he is an England international and anyone who plays for England is a good player."
